Cardiac Rehabilitation Program

The Mosaic PCN catchment area holds approximately 30% of Calgary’s population but 50% of Calgary's heart attack patients.  Statistically, only 50% of patients in Mosaic boudaries referred to the cardiac rehabilitation program downtown actually attend this program.  The only cardiac rehabilitation facility in the city is located at Talisman Centre (south of downtown Calgary) which is not reasonably accessible for most of Mosaic’s community members.

Services:

Given these facts, Mosaic PCN believes access to cardiac rehabilitation is an important primary care service for this community.  Therefore, Mosaic introduced a cardiac rehabilitation program to help prevent further cardiovascular complications in recovering cardiac patients.  This program is offered in partnership with Cardiology Consultants at World Health (a fitness club) in their Sunridge location.  Exercise intervention and prevention education will also be offered as part of the program to heart attack survivors.

How to Access:

The Cardiac Rehabilitation Program takes place at World Health’s Sunridge location 2 days a week.  A physician will be present at each session to perform exercise testing and physiological assessments.  The initial capacity for the program will be 600 patients each year.  Check this website regularly for more information about this program.
